Release of 100% appointments in Passport Seva Kendras

Keeping in view the long delay in availability of appointment cycle and the difficulties faced by passport applicants and with a view to provide better services to the passport applicants, with the Ministry’s approval, it has been decided to release 100 percent appointments at all Passport Seva Kendras — Begumpet, Ameerpet, Tolichowki in Hyderabad and one in Nizamabad, Passport Seva Laghu Kendra, Karimnagar, and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras throughout the state of Telangana, according to Dasari Balaiah, IRS, Regional Passport Officer & Head of MEA Branch Secretariat.

In view of the then prevailing COVID conditions and Ministry of External Affairs instructions, the number of daily released appointments were reduced to 50 percent from 18 January 2022.

They were further reduced to 30 percent from 28 January 2022. This resulted in an unprecedented delay in availability of appointments stretching upto 30 days causing great inconvenience to the passport applicants.

With the release of 100 percent slots, the applicants who have got their appointments during later weeks of February and in the month of March may prepone their appointments by rescheduling through the Passport Seva Portal www.passportindia.gov.in, the RPO said.
